North American Space Institute Joins Space Canada to Strengthen the Nation’s Space Workforce

We are thrilled to announce that the North American Space Institute (NASI) has officially been welcomed as a member of Space Canada, the national voice representing Canada’s space innovators, researchers, and industry leaders.

Space Canada plays a vital role in championing the economic, technological, and strategic value of the country’s space ecosystem. For NASI, joining this national coalition marks an exciting milestone in our mission to train and prepare the skilled professionals building the future of space exploration and technology.

What Space Canada Membership Means for NASI

Founded by former Canadian Space Agency technologists, NASI was established with a clear goal: to bridge the gap between academic education and the practical, hands-on requirements of modern space roles.

Becoming part of Space Canada connects NASI directly with the nation’s leading space companies, research bodies, and government agencies. This partnership enables us to continuously align our hands-on training frameworks with the evolving operational needs of the sector, ensuring our programs remain directly tied to real-world industry demands.

What This Means for the Canadian Space Community

As Canada’s space sector expands, the need for qualified, mission-ready technical personnel has never been higher. From satellite manufacturing and payload integration to ground support and operations, the sector’s growth relies on a strong foundation of skilled talent.

Through our collaboration with Space Canada, NASI is dedicated to strengthening Canada’s space workforce by:

  • Delivering Practical Technical Education: Offering competency-based training (including our Space Systems Technician framework) that focuses on practical skills required on the facility floor.
  • Expanding Access to Training: Utilizing OrbitLab mobile training units and immersive virtual cleanroom simulations to bring high-calibre technical instruction directly to institutions and communities across the region.
  • Supporting Industry Growth: Partnering with government and commercial organizations to build, test, operate, and maintain critical space infrastructure safely and efficiently.

Together with Space Canada, we are helping ensure that Canadian companies have access to the well-trained technical talent necessary to compete on the global stage.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to actively participating in Space Canada’s committees, engaging in policy discussions, and collaborating with fellow members at upcoming national events, including the annual SpaceBound conference in Ottawa this October.

Thank you to Space Canada for the warm welcome. We are excited to work together to inspire, train, and support the workforce powering Canada’s space future.
